Geek Stuff – Jupiter

Thursday 24 July 2008 @ 7:41 am

I have not posted any geek stuff in awhile.  I know I have been pretty slack on posting stuff period.  Things have been busy – which is a GREAT thing! Thanks to all of you who stop by and buy our stickers we are the best and fastest growing biker helmet sticker site on the ‘net!

Ok so now on to the geek stuff.  The other night (July 19, 2008) I was out with the scope checking out Jupiter.  The humidity was high so I was not able to get a great focus, but I was able to see 4 of Jupiter’s moons clearly and I was also able to pick out 2 dark bands on the gas planet itself.
I am still practicing with the CCD camera on the scope but I think these came out pretty decent (Especially as bad as the air quality was the night I took them).

Awesome Biker Email Signature

Thursday 22 May 2008 @ 6:05 am

A ChopperStickers.com customer uses this in his email signature and I asked him if it would be OK if I shared it with you guys. He said no problem, so here it is:

O~`o

To create this keyboard motorcycle just use the following keys:

  • The capital letter “O”
  • A tilde “~”
  • A tick “`” (probably not the proper name for it but whatever)
  • Then a lowercase “o”

And this O~`o is what you end up with.

Here is the original signature that was used:

Ride safe!

O~`o

I thought it was pretty neat. Enjoy.

DEDICATED IM Server For Exclusive Use of Bikers

Thursday 1 May 2008 @ 3:51 pm

Got this in my email this afternoon, might be worth checking out…

Greetings All Users;

I have set up a dedicated IM (Instant Messaging) Server for exclusive use of the AzCMC and any other confederation’s, bikers rights members, independent bikers, and the like. This service is provided FREE of charge and will be available 24/7 as long as the Qwest lines are not down.

I have searched the web and have found no other type of FREE communication device offered exclusively for Bikers….

The url is http://www.biker-lifestyle.com or http://www.biker-lifestyle.org

1) Signup for an account

2) Download the Spark Client and install it on your system.

3) Login using your username, password that you created to the biker-lifestyle.com Server

It’s that simple if you’d like to give it a try…

Sortly I would hope that we will be the first and only World Wide IM system dedicated to Bikers Exclusively…..

PS… This BLIM system also interfaces and replaces any AIM, Yahoo Chat, and MSM Chat client that you currently use… This means you can also interact with your current IM systems from ours….

—–

Have not really looked into it yet so I am not sure how legit it is. I am not really into IM and I definitely do not dig something that forces you to use their client.

Anyway stop by there and have a look. If it ain’t worth it, stop back in here and let us know.

My First Pictures of Saturn with my Telescope

Saturday 9 February 2008 @ 10:33 am

Here are a couple of pictures I took of Saturn on the night of February 8, 2008 around 9:30 PM in my backyard.

This was my first attempt at using my Celestron NexImage Solar System Imager with my Nexstar 60 SLT Telescope. It ain’t the Hubble, but it is a lot of fun.

Saturn, February 8, 2008

I don’t think it turned out too bad for my first time. Could probably clean up the images abit and I have really got to get a steadier hand to focus. I figure with a little more practice I should be able to capture some pretty decent images.

Saturn 2, February 8, 2008

I can actually focus in on Saturn nicely with my 15mm eye piece and 2x Barlow. I can see some great detail even with my small scope.
My daughter and I had a very great night star gazing.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Customize Your Gadgets with HD Skins

Saturday 5 January 2008 @ 10:15 am

Check these out – Harley Davidson Skins for your iPod, Laptop, Cell Phone, PDA, etc…

Harley Davidson Skins

I am probably going to pick up the H-D Skull Skin for my Laptop and iPod. Doesn’t look like they have one to fit my ASUS Eee PC but I am going to drop them a note to see if it is possible or something they may offer in the future (since the Eee PC is pretty new to the market).

If these are too fancy or your not that into HD, our biker helmet stickers are also great for adding a personal custom touch to your gadgets :) We just received a shipment of our Lethal Threat Decals that look great stuck on just about anything.

Once I get my HD Skull iPod Skin I will let you guys know how they look.

Geek Stuff: New Gadget – ASUS Eee PC

Wednesday 2 January 2008 @ 8:04 am

Here is the first of many to come “Geek Stuff” posts, a new category I have started for the new year. They may not all be biker related but if you are in to computers and gadgets you should find these informative and cool.

The ASUS Eee PC

ASUS Eee PC 4G Galaxy Black Intel processor 7

Before Christmas I picked up this cool little gadget the ASUS Eee PC 4GB Galaxy Black from NewEgg.

I was looking for something to take with me on road trips so that I could access email and check out the site. Traveling with a laptop is great, besides checking your email, you can check local weather, look for local attractions, and a number of other things.

The biggest problem I had with taking my laptop was it’s size and I really worried about the abuse it received from traveling. Did that last bump do it in?

The Eee PC fits right nicely in my saddle bag! Since it does not have any moving parts (Solid State Drive) it should be right durable and handle road trips fine.

The Eee PC is a highly portable, light-weight (right around 2 lbs.), full powered laptop PC. Folded up it measures just a little larger than a 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of paper folded in half. It opens to a 7″ LCD screen and a full keyboard. It has Wifi, a Webcam, integrated sound, and a microphone. It also has 3 USB ports and an SD card slot. The battery last a little over 3 hours on a full charge.

The keyboard is a little small and takes a bit of getting use to, but after a few minutes I can type on it almost as fast as I can on a full keyboard. The 7″ LCD screen is surprisingly nice. Check out more of the article for an actual screen shot. It has a 4 GB Solid State Disk and 512MB of RAM.
