By now I am sure that you have heard about the accident that happened on Labor Day involving Billy Lane that killed a man on a moped in Melbourne, FL. If you haven’t then here are a few articles on it:

The BeachCruiser has been blogging about it pretty regularly since it happened.
I have always liked Billy, I have met him several times at different events and he is always very accessible and just an overall good guy. The bikes he builds are just plain Bad Ass. I still like Billy, he made a mistake as we all do, unfortunately his mistake has taken a life.
This is a terrible thing that has happened and Billy should be punished for it. He broke the law and it resulted in the death of another person and for that I believe that he should be punished. As a member and officer of a SMRO and being dedicated to fighting for Bikers’ Rights we are always pushing for education and the fact that most motorcycle accidents are caused by inattentive and unaware automobile drivers and for the punishment of those that commit Right of Way Violations (ROW) that result in the injury or death of a rider. People that cause accidents such as this cannot go unpunished. I hope that Billy was not drinking before the accident but if he was, well… we can discuss that more once we hear more about his BAC.
There was also a passenger in the truck with Billy that was hurt. I am not sure of her status this morning. It appears that Billy was treated at the hospital and released.
Just checked out the Choppers, Inc. website and it is closed with an under construction message. Not sure if that is as a result of this or not.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim, the passenger that was hurt, and also to Billy.

I took these pics at Willie’s Tropical Tattoo in Daytona last year at Biketoberfest. The Horse Magazine was having an old school chopper show and there were some totally sick bikes there (Will feature some more of them later).
A great looking Harley Davidson Fatboy with the Twin Cam motor, primary, hell everything powder coated black. It looked really good with the white tank and fenders. Really like how the ape hangers and hand controls looked all blacked out.
If you make it down to Biketoberfest this year (which is only about 2 months away - can’t wait) it is worth it to stop by Willie’s and check out his work and the bikes in the parking lot.
Not sure if The Horse is having the show again this year, could not find anything about it on their site, but if they do it is definitly worth checking out.
Made it through another one!
Here we have a sexy blonde babe Ericka making the Exile Cycles Biker Build-off trike look even better.

The weather here in southeastern VA is suppose to be right on this weekend so the wife and I are going to get some miles on the road.
Have a great weekend.

Lastnight on Discovery Channels Biker Build-off the competing builders were Scott Long of Central Coast Cycles in Santa Cruz, CA and Trevelen of Super Company Customs in Los Angeles, CA.
Both builders came up with some really great old school bikes but Trevelen’s bike was completely and totally wicked. The frame that Trevelen built was just awesome. Really liked the ribbed steel he used for the down tubes. This guy and his crew are truely great fabricators.

Trevelen’s El Peligroso Chopper
Above is a pic of Trevelen’s creation. The blue chopper named El Peligroso (Dangerous). I like very much.
Trevelen did win the build off over Scott Long and in my opinion the better bike did win. Scott’s bike was nice and the paint job was pretty kick ass but over all I just did not pick up on anything really special about the bike he built. I did like the oil bag that they put together using two Twin Cam jugs. That came out pretty sweet. Probably the only thing on the bike that really jumps out.

Scott Long’s Biker Build Off Bike
The old school touchs on Trevelen’s bike just really set it off. Trevelen did have some trouble with his motor burning up oil on the last few miles of the 1000 mile trip from LA to Albuquerque, NM for the judging but he did make the ride. Would like to know what happened to the motor. Did some searching around the net to see if anyone had posted anything about the troubles but could not find anything. Anyone know?

I was searching around the net lastnight, don’t even remember what I was looking for, and came across this very cool “mini” bobber.

The Hardknock old school mini bobber manufactured by Kikker Moto 5150.
Now I am not a fan of these chinese “mini choppers” that you see all over the place, I think most of them are junk, but this one kind of caught my eye.
For one it is made in the USA of steel. The bike features a rigid frame, springer front end, kick or electric start, jockey shift, and a couple of cool paint job options - flat black, flames, very cool. The Hardknock bobber is available with 2 different engine sizes, either a 49cc or 110cc, and can reach speeds over 50 MPH. Kikker also offers a line of accessories and replacement parts for the bike. The price of the HardKnock bobber starts at just under 2 grand.

OK so it is not the usual cool, but it is pretty neat.
Check out Kikker 5150 for more info on this very cool mini old school bobber.
The the first episode of the new season of Discovery Channel’s Bike Build-Off airs on Monday August 7, 2006 at 9:00PM.
The episode features Billy Lane of Choppers Inc. and Russell Mitchell from Exile Cycles.
No doubt you have heard something about the trouble Billy had with his bike on the way to Laconia for the Build-Off. If you haven’t well check out the video over at the Beach Cruiser.
This should be a pretty good episode. I really like both Billy and Russell’s style of bikes. Though I tend to lean a little more towards Billy’s very unique old school made from scratch bikes (even if they do have there problems). The hubless rear wheels are incredible cool.

This is a pic of one of Billy Lane’s hubless creations taken at the Smokeout VII
Russell builds some very nice, clean looking bikes. I personally like the fact that he stays away from chrome and flashy paint jobs. Brushed metal and rattle can black. My personal favorite of Russell’s has to be the trike he built for the Build-off a couple of seasons ago. That was one kick ass ride.

Russell’s Biker Build-off Trike from a couple of seasons ago. It didn’t win but it is still bad ass.
Should be a good episode so check it out on Monday, August 7 at 9:00PM on the Discovery Channel.
